Open Thread: Beowulf Films

Right now, the Anglo-Saxon medieval community is debating various aspects of the many Beowulf film adaptations past, present, and future. Some relevant news stories are here, here, and here. Some stories about Beowulf opera can be found here and here. The relevant IMDb pages are here, here, here, here and here. Finally, some relevant blog entries can be found here, here, and here. Please feel free to post other important links in replies.

Also, don't forget Da Rulz for open threads in the Wordhoard.

  1. So far, an interesting foray into the world of open threads. While no one has posted here in the actual open thread, many people have posted comments in the post *about* open threads.

I'll have to ponder what this means.

  2. As you ponder, consider this: I visit your site from a referral on a friends site and find the discussions very interesting so I keep coming back. I'd love to comment here but it's been about 30 years since I read and studied Beowulf. I'm always looking for an opportunity to join the conversation but only if I can add some value.

That's *my* excuse, wonder what the others will say. Perhaps the dog ate their copy? :-)

The World Premiere of "Beowulf" (an two act opera written by Edwardo Perez with a libretto in Old English) happens Friday March 31, 2006 in Hurst, Texas.

Sorry, very weak in many ways to say the least. Flow, audience connection, and the music, etc...
