A great find from Jeff Sypeck: Kid Beowulf, a new comic in which Beowulf and Grendel are brothers.
I wanted to get Alexis E. Fajardo on the phone before posting about it, but there's no contact info on his webpage (at least none I can find). Instead, I offer for you this video preview of Kid Beowulf: A Bard's Tale, which has since been re-titled Kid Beowulf and the Blood-Bound Oath.
Here is Hama the Pig listening to a re-written opening of Beowulf:
Here is a longer preview, mostly focusing on Beowulf and Grendel as they hop across Europe:

For future reference, you can always try running a Whois check on the domain name. Kidbeowulf.com lists Fajardo's address, email, and phone number (if the info is valid is another question).
ReplyDeleteCame across you site, thrilled to see mention of Kid Beowulf. I'm Alexis Fajardo's publicist. He signed with Bowler Hat Comics in Portland, OR, earlier this year, and we're getting ready to nationally release Kid B. (newly formatted)in late Spring 2008. Should be the first installment of a series of 13 graphic novels that follow Beowulf and Grendel throughout the world meeting, falling in love, and doing battle with characters of other legendary epic poems--all of which culminates in the rift that will eventually pit brother against brother (the new world with the old world).
ReplyDeleteIf you're interested, shoot me an email and I'll make sure to send you an advance reader copy of the new edition before it goes to press.
