Still just philograms

I'm finally back from Korea, and though my joints still haven't recovered from the 15 hours of immobilization on a flight, I got my first good night's sleep last night ... so I'm back to blogging. I tried to blog from Korea, but Blogger wouldn't let me.

The big disappointment for me is that I was unable to work in a visit to the Gypsy Scholar. I couldn't get my flights worked out to allow a visit to Seoul. I did manage to talk to him on the telephone, though, and can report to the blogosphere that he has a very pleasant, mellow voice. He was so easy to talk to that I ran up more than $15 on the rental phone minutes in one conversation.

It strikes me that I've never met any bloggers whom I hadn't previously met, with the exception of Sheri, but since she's here at Troy, I'm not sure she counts. Perhaps I should make more of an effort.

My wife claims that I've been eating too many Jeju Island tangerines, which are changing my color.

I was also sorry that we couldn't arrange a meeting -- though Gypsy Scholar only exists online, you know.

    There's always next summer...

I suppose I should take exception to that. Nevertheless, I remain your philogram.

  3. D'oh! I must still be more jet-lagged than I thought! Yes, of course I met Scott Gosnell in his last few days as a psuedonymous blogger.

Just to clarify, too, I had met Steven Taylor once before I started reading his blog regularly, but it was over a university luncheon (boring meet-and-greet the dignitary stuff), so he might not remember it.

Most of the bloggers I know personally are pseudonymous, though ... and one is so pseudonymous that I don't link to her page lest people figure out who she is through our acquaintance.

If my wife goes to Korea this summer and leaves me behind, maybe I'll hold a blogger block party, and invite folks to come. Given the number of pseudonymous bloggers, though, perhaps it should be a masquerade...

A blogger masquerade -- an excellent idea! Come as your favorite emoticon.
