Podcasting Query

As regular readers know, I'm not really a techno-geek (my geekiness is of a different breed), and this blog strains the envelope of what I can handle, to the point that I've actually received e-mail making fun of my html coding skills (or lack thereof).

My question is: how hard is it for a tyro to podcast? In terms of difficulty, is it any harder to do a video podcast than an audio podcast?

Podcasting isn't terribly difficult, no. I don't know about videocasting, since I've never done it, but I imagine it's a bit tougher.

    For podcasting:
You'll need to create a mp3 file (the standard) of your podcast. More choices than you can handle can be found here. I've used Audacity in the past but it was a bit on the techy side. I can't test the windows clients to see how user friendly they are because I've switched.

After that, your best bet for easy podcasting to the world is to add Feedburner to your arsenal of blogging tools. Read a step by step tutorial.

Hope that helps you out some; feel free to send me any questions you might have. danweasel at gmail

  2. Thanks, Andrew. I'm not actually trying to add a sound/video component to the blog; instead, I'm thinking of a different project entirely -- though maybe I'll try it and test it out on the blog. Seems like I might have to get some new equipment, though.
