Old English Flashcards

There have been pre-made Old English flashcards available on the internet, and I wasn't informed? I demand an investigation!

Flashcards 1
Flashcards 2

I think I'll make my student assistant print and cut all those for me, just to complete my cycle of laziness. I think that's about 3000 words, so surely there are some words in there I don't have off the top of my head.

Someone's already locked the flashcard hoard, Doc; the link is dead!
Thanks for the great blog, though.

  2. The link isn't dead -- I just had an error in the URL. It should work now.

By the way, it looks like there might be only 1500 words. I can't tell the difference between the two lists!

  3. I think it is 1500 words. Once in "regular" font, and once as if hand written in OE.

While we're on this list, can we talk about the extraordinarily irritating "mæg" for a minute? I mean, kinsman and perhaps AND to be permitted?

    That's just rude.

  4. It's especially rude considering that all we're trying to do is learn their language. I mean, we don't ask the medieval Anglo-Saxons to learn Modern English, do we? The least they could do is make it easy on us!
