Boethius on History as a Wheel

I'm not sure what to make of this video; I ran across it by chance. It's about Boethius, though, so I present it here. Is this a clip from a British TV series, perhaps?

  1. It's from the movie 24 Hour Party People, with Steve Coogan and Christopher Eccleston as Boethius. IMDb lists the scene on the quotations page.

Considering that he died as if he were a body found early in some Louis L'Amor book about the Apaches, I figured that would go differently somehow. How odd.

I think it's funny that he almost quoted Dickens on "It's the worst of times and the best of times" thing he said.

This is one of my favorite scenes in a movie, ever. Or maybe it's just one of my favorite quotes. But the quote is about how times are changing, and while the inconsistency is a tragedy, we also desire it. Ugh, what a cool movie. It's fun but it's about some of the greatest things in life.
