Grrrr ... Amazon!

Amazon.com now has a new policy that you can't post books for free -- which really stinks because we intended to offer our sample book for free starting this week.

So, in the meantime, you can still buy "Old English and Samwise Gamgee's Genealogy" on both Amazon and Barnes & Noble, but it'll cost you a dollar. We're now going to try a work-around to allow the slightly more tech-savvy to download it for free on our website, but that's not quite available yet.

If you don't want to pay and don't want to wait, just come by our booth -- we'd be delighted to show it to you for free, without Amazon or B&N getting their cut.

  1. Scott I can set up a free "secret" URL for you in ten seconds.

Another alternative is to use DropBox for a free Kalamazoo only download; you can easily set up a URL there for a download that requires a sekrit password, like ProfessorAwesome. I can do that for you too.

  2. Michael wants to set something up on the website -- actually, we're kind of hoping by doing that Amazon will try to "punish" us by dropping the price to free on their site, since publishers are not allowed to sell for less on their sites than Amazon.

We'll probably do a "download and drag" sort of set-up with an e-pub file on the website.

You can do costless downloads on Lulu.com I believe. I've certainly found stuff that had been put there for free download, which would technically still have been in copyright. It's not the same visibility but if that's what you want it's there.
