What the heck is wrong with Tracksy?

I rely heavily on Tracksy and Technorati to help me find previously-overlooked medieval websites. Every day, I scan the incoming traffic for pages I've never seen before, then I go check out those pages to see if they're one-shot deals or sites with consistent medieval content.

Over the last couple of days, though, Tracksy has been giving me a "timed out" error, and now I see that it claims I only had 9 visitors yesterday. Now, the previous day when it said I only had 35, I suspected an error, but decided to assume traffic had just dropped of. NINE visitors, though? I generally only get traffic in the 90's on holiday weekends and such, so there's no way I'll believe only 9 visitors.

Am I the only one having trouble with Tracksy?

  2. Tracksy's hit counter plays with my mind. Three times I've exceeded 10,000 visitors and three times it's dropped me back down to about 9000. I don't know what it's trying to do but it clearly hates me.

  3. I found this site while searching for news about why Tracksy has imploded -- yes, we're having the same problem, since the weekend. I tried to submit a query via the webform but got the following response:

Doesn't look good...and then I found a distressing exchange regarding Tracksy.

Tracksy won't respond to me either. I'm very upset. Every time I log in it says "Session timed out. Please log in again."

  8. Same problem. Tracksy never responds to emails. Heard they don't even respond to their paying customers. I remember something similar happening in January, then they came back up after a while, but with lost data. Don't know if i'll wait it out this time.

  10. I'm having the same problem. I might switch to statcounter, but in the interim I have stats through feedburner and I recently added google analytics to my blog. I think google analytics is the way to go. It provides more data then I know what to do with.

  11. I think tracksy went on vacation, does anyone know when they are coming back home to fix the problem? All I get is: Session timed out. Please log back in. No response to my email either. Oh well maybe I'll have to check out sisto's suggestion and try google analytics.

  12. I have emailed them 4 times and I have gotten no response. It will not let me log in. I ended up loading code for another website tracker. Have they gone out of business?

  13. I'm thinking Tracky's gone for good at this point. A month later, and still no changes. I also find it particularly telling that they appear to have completely removed the sign up form to prevent people from creating new accounts (sign up link results in a 404 error). Even if it did come back, they've burned any good will their former user base may have had.

  14. So it seems confirmed that Tracksy is no more? I've never used Statcounter - is that what everyone is switching to? Is it free? I guess I will take a look now. And yes this truly is annoying - I've only been able to keep up with my overall traffic through AdSense. I'm getting more than ever and I don't know how, why or from where! Drats.

  15. Tracksy's dead man. It just says "Session timed out" all the time, and the sign up page is gone.

  16. I used Google Analytics. Free also with more granular data analysis.
